Ronaldo had been hinting he would speak his truth soon. We never expected it to be such a headline event.
The legendary forward aired his grievances on the Piers Morgan show, in an interview that has since gone viral. The Portuguese touched on The Glazers, Gary Neville, and even long-time partner Wayne Rooney.
Wayne Rooney had taken shots at Cristiano Ronaldo since the beginning of the year, in April he suggested that the club focus on their youngsters as Ronaldo was not the player he used to be.
Ronaldo at 37 scored 18 goals in the Premier League, and Rooney retired at 35. Ronaldo was only outscored by Son Heung min and Mo salah in the previous season.
It’s understandable when fans have short-term memory, fans are fickle. But when ex-players like Jamie Carragher who retired at 35 can openly criticize instead of giving Ronaldo his flowers is mind-blowing.
Salah scores goals and Carragher doesn’t sleep at night and emphasizes how his goal-scoring prowess saves the day, Ronaldo scores goals and he goes “of course, he scores goals, everybody knows hell score goals, look I’m talking about the future of united”.
Ronaldo was asked why he feels Wayne Rooney was being so critical of him and he suggested it might have stemmed from jealousy as Rooney knows he can not do what Ronaldo does at this age.
Ronaldo has become the first athlete ever to attain billionaire status, and at the end of his career, he is not only keeping up but outscoring the best strikers in the premier league.
In his interview with Piers Morgan, he claimed the owners of the club The Glazers don’t really care about the club and assign everything about the club to employees. He lambasted the development of the club as he claims the facilities have been the same ever since he left the club in 2009.
He emphasized that Manchester United is a Marketing Giant and regardless of the outcome they will generate money. He made it clear that he and all United players want what’s best for the club, but there are factors within the club that halt the club from reaching the heights that clubs like Arsenal are now reaching.
He also claimed he felt ex-teammates like Gary Neville who are in the media were being disingenuous with their comments and saying stuff just for the views or the headlines.
Manchester United released a statement regarding Ronaldos Interview.
“Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.
Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief, and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans”.
Piers Morgan says in an unreleased version of the interview Ronaldo also speaks of Lionel Messi and he claims it will shock most. Rest assured we will provide an update once available.
