The football world is an everchanging and evolving cyclone. Every day we are bombarded with a barrage of news and developments from different corners of the world.
The position you find yourself in today as a professional football player might not be the same next month. Your standing, health, and wellbeing are not guaranteed as this is one of the most competitive sports in existence.
Injuries happen, managers get sacked, and players lose form. A lot of factors are in play when it comes to the trajectory of a player’s career, with all that in mind here are 5 footballers that desperately need to establish themselves this season.
5. Divock Origi
Divock origi has had so many magical moments in football it’s really unbelievable that he’s still only 27 years old.
The Kop legend decided to venture into the wild and actually nail himself a starting spot in a team. There were many attractive suitors for the Belgian hitman’s signature but he ended up choosing ac Milan.
In a team on the rise with players like Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, Sandro tonali and ante rebic its easy to see why he’d prefer that sporting project.
Ac Milan recently ended their 11-year trophy drought and they will be looking to not only keep their brightest talents but reinvest too. it was brave on origis part to leave Liverpool because he had such a safety net.
he won’t want to return to the bench at his new club and hed be looking to stamp his mark sooner than later in that team. He has only one goal in 6 appearances but it was a world-class strike further reminding everyone of his enduring talent.
4. Dele Alli
The decline of delle allis career has been widely documented. He was the hottest property in football for a year and then declined terribly.
The superstar had the world at his feet in his early years at Tottenham making many Liverpool fans regret their failure to secure his signature. He made his England debut and scored his first international goal soon after.
This is someone who before 24 had a season where he contributed 18 goals and 9 assists in 35 appearances. for him to go from tottenhams leading player to everton and then besiktas is crazy.
He has put in some good performances for besiktas but they need to be much better if his stock is to ever rise up again.
3. Jesse Lingard
Jesse Lingard signed to Nottingham Forest in a deal that made the superstar the highest earner of all time at the club.
Forest were trying to send a message and they were going to build around Lingard. He is the most experienced big game player the club currently has and he will contribute massively if the club is going to stay up in the premier league.
It hasn’t gone to plan at all for both parties as Nottingham forest lie bottom of the league after 12 games and have scored the second lowest amount of goals.
Lingard himself has made 10 appearances and contributed no goals and no assist. No matter how you spin it that’s horrible from your key attacking player.
Lingard will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat in the second half of the season like we know he can. If not its going to be championship for both club and superstar.
2. Nicolas Pepe
Nicholas pepe was seen as the man who would lead arsenal into the new era. The ivorian sensation had starred for lille in the french ligue one.
In the 2017-2018 in 36 appearances he contributed 13 goals and 5 assist showcasing his dribbling, eye for goal and strength. His coaches were impressed but they had no idea what would happen next.
in the 2018-2019 season, he scored 22 goals and 11 assist in 36 games for lille, officially alerting europes elites he was ready to shine.
Arsenal made the move official for 80 million and the rest is history. He was sent out on loan by mikel arteta as the ivorian has never fully integrated into the system. he is currently playing for nice and will hope to strengthen his case this season for a starting spot in london
1. Paul Pogba
This man is regarded as one of the best midfielders of the modern football generation. His accolades are almost unmatched and he has won major honours in all the clubs he has competed for
But his stay at manchester united did nothing to help his sporting reputation as it seems it was only while playing for france he truly showed his talent.
He signed to Juventus on a free transfer for juventus but injuries have hampered his playing time.
due to juventus enduring a tough time with them being 8th in the Italian league standings and dumped out of the champions league, it seems he left manchester for a similar climate.
